Beautiful!!!!
Just got a new bigger turbo and had side to side play and no in out play. Thought it was bad😂
This isn't really how you'd drive a real diesel lol
Gas vehicles aka f150 now have gas particulate filters. Glad to see we are going to be pitching like you oil burners lol
Are you driving a 7.3 or a 6.7. Geez somebody needs to learn how to tune bra. There is no reason you can’t run 75 up those grades pulling that load.
Hmmm interesting. Our semi trucks make 1,850ft lbs of torque at 1000rpms. They will tow 110,000lbs up the side of a mountain all day every day with 0 issues
RPM is your friend when towing. I have 05 5.9 w/fleece coolant by pass and 2 pyrometers for front 3 and back 3 cylinders. I done quite a few upgrades to my engine and have banks ram air intake and meth and mostly water injection. I use the injection mostly on longer bigger hills and seldom ever briefly hit 1150 on the pyros. amsoil dual filtration oil bypass and fuel filtration AND lubrication for injectors and pump. I don't drive by speed but RPM.
IMO all diesels should be checked for boost leaks.
I think it’s time to make that AFR video I love how much Charlie gives back to the diesel community through all these videos Great work guys
If you can manage to fuck up towing with an auto trans, just don’t do it. 😂
The fact that people can't "feel" there car and we need a video to tell them speaks volumes about the state of society.
Wow...just good advice! Been towing a big (38 ft. 15k lbs) 5th wheel for 15 years all over the country and I totally agree with your ideas about towing. I tow with a 3500 Ram dually and always have the gauge info on the screen and use the manual shift feature (as well as the compression brake and Tow Mode). Do not pull hard in too high of a gear, back out of the throttle and drop down to 4th or 3rd if necessary. I can pull virtually any grade in the country at 45-50 without hurting the truck and that's good enough. Don't worry about trying to match speeds with the hotshot in his modded up truck trying to impress you. If he wants to punish his truck just to pass you on that steep grade...let him. Who cares, right? 😉 EDIT: Gotta agree about the F250 towing a triple axle toy hauler though...guessing the numbers aren't good on that one. Absolutely a 3500 dually...
😂... All the bellybuttons. And all of them different. Just drive it. If it blows up, fix it. There is no "proper" way.
Eh. I'll take a PROPERLY sized fixed vane over a vgt. I have a t3 s363/65 on my 6.7 cummins and it stays cooler under load and drives just as good as my vgt did. The problem I see is all of these dudes throwing massive s400s on stock fueled trucks. That must be miserable.
You first start with finding a Diesel. They are very easy to distinguish from all other engine, as you will see 6 cylinders in a row from front to back of the engine compartment! P.S. look for the Cummins emblem!
It's good for guys getting into the diesel game, but if they don't already know most of this stuff they don't belong towing anyway haha
Two turbos are twice the fun!
Another good idea is leave it stock and tow what it’s rated for. Way less risk
2015 6.7 PS, towing 10,000 up and down the Appalachian mountains I’ve never seen more than 1100 degrees
So add a non vgt in front of the vgt. Got it
248 degrees oil temps!? Sustained above 240 oil temps for a while.
Get the tune right so it doesnt smoke. Might even help with the high oil temp
wish i understood sum of the terms better. what i doo 100 agree on is dont trt to be a lead foot when towing. drop it to atleast the speed limit or 5 under your engine with thank you. i dont go faster than 66mph when towing and not afraid to slow down to get engine out of 3500 rpms gasser. im mainly watchen oil temp and trany temp. oil 212 218 range try to hold going up a grade and dont like trany temp over 190.
What us 6.4 guys need is to get rid of that cross over pipe that leaks between turbos, PLEASE convert the feed pipe between turbos to a band clamp boot style. Machine a lip on hp and ditch the coupler fit on lp. This allows for more cfm and easier to work on. Then take my money!
Good stuff, I would just add that I always idle the engine after stopping and let it cool down a bit before shutting down. I have a high idle switch and I'll run it on high idle for 5-10 minutes before shutting down.
Do i have to be on 4x4
Very helpful video, thanks for posting
I will not run more than 1200 sustained.
How long until you have something for the 17-20 pickups? I need mo powa baby
Your oil temps make me cringe
I can't wait to get a KC turbo for my 6.7. Had a 2003 with that sweet sweet whistle, and can't wait to hear it again. Thanks, KC!
Wow, an employee of KC Turbos says you should run a VGT because "reasons". Imagine that! Also, and likely unrelated: KC Turbos primarily sells VGTs which are 2-3X more expensive (and less reliable) than traditional fixed-vane turbos. Coincidence?
yeah, im fine with the waste gated drop in. americans want such large and powerful things. my 97 7.3 pulls all day without issues. for some reason, its only rated at 12k lb which is about 3k more than my camper ( i could even add a car) . i also use an irate/fass fuel system. and new stock injectors.
Let’s be honest, that’s not Juice’s demographic. Totally just on radio 🤣
This guy is 100% right on his tips. Even with gassers you wanna watch your gauges and don’t lug your engine
I tow 9 k with an old 7.3 on 37’s with 4.56 gears I never touch 1200 and trans almost never goes above 165-170 unless it’s over 100 outside temp would love to install your stage 2, like you said keep the rpms in the sweet zone and listen/watch your truck!!!
smokes kinda fun sometimes tho hehe
guarantee you are soooo overweight
Do these and the intercooler fit the powerboost as well?
I have a 2019 3500 with a L5P and it pulls 14,000 ponds like nothing in 6th gear. And it will down shift automatically when the EGT’s are at 1,250 to 1,300 after 3 to 5 seconds.
I have an '18 and same. I just floor it and have gauges and never think about it. I think this video is for guys with fuel/air mods.
My 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins stay at 2000 to 2400 rpm and the truck protects itself. I use to drive by the gauges but got tired of that nonsense.
How about for mechanical diesel
WASTED
If you want a big build like this to last you’ll also have to do a trans, pushrods, rockers, studs, intercooler, etc.
I'm looking for a guide for EGT's for my GM L5P. Got a CTS3 and I have 4 or 5 EGT measurements at different points in the chain. Anyone know of a guide like this, he said 1300 or less, but for each of the different measurements?
I’m not going to listen to a diesel bro who lifts his truck and puts stupid oversized tires on it. Not a good setup for towing. What’s wrong with the way it came from the factory?
The truck in this video is not lifted. Larger tires provide greater clearance when off-road, and this truck has been re-geared to accommodate the larger tires. In addition, many truck owners do not want their truck to look exactly the same as everyone else's stock truck, so they aim for any sort of uniqueness when it comes to how their truck looks. The Factory tires are fine, and so are 35's. Everyone is different and has different styles and preferences.
6.4s are great trucks. Fast efficient handle good, sound DAMN good. See some drunk rednecks getting a boner listening to one of these trucks do a pull. I love my truck. Shes fully blueprinted and bullet proofed .40 over with delipped mxforce7 pistons, stage 2 callies billet cam, HD up-pipes, oringed heads with SS valves, billet push rods, billet oil pump, choate billet oiling rocker covers to oil the topend.
Thank you! You just confirmed what I’ve learned the hard way. Great video, great information.
What a coincidence! I love America!
Unless they're Mopar fans
I live in Mexico I need to buy this product
For a stock truck, what option is recommended? In the future I plan to improve injectors up to 180/30
For A stock Truck, just use the huge library of free tunes that are provided when you buy the hudra tuner. After you have then upgraded your injectors, then you can look into getting Custom tunes from a reputable tuner.
